Where to Explore

Yellowstone National Park
Check out the United States first National Park spanning 3,500 sq. miles across Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho. About a 1 hr and 20 min drive from Bozeman via 90E to 89S.

Hike the "M"
The trail offers two routes, an easy side and a steeper, harder side. Both routes take you to the top where the letter M sits high above the valley as a symbol of pride for our Montana State University. The benches at the top of the 'M' give some of the most spectacular views of the valley.

Custer Gallatin National Forest
The Custer National Forest is the most ecologically diverse forest in the Northern Region, reaching from the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness near Red Lodge, Montana to the grasslands of South Dakota. The Custer Gallatin National Forest is home to 12,799 ft. Granite Peak, the tallest mountain in Montana. Remember, this is Bear Country, please be "bear aware" and pack bear spray (and know how to use it).

Peet's Hill
An easy, idyllic downtown Bozeman hike just walking distance from the house that can be completed in just an hour or so. The trail crests just above downtown giving amazing views of Bozeman, the Bridger Range

Skiing/Snowboarding
You are in a ski Mecca! If you're looking for some turns, Bridger Bowl is just 20-30 min from downtown Bozeman. If you want the big mountain, head to Big Sky located about 1 hr away. Other mountains to explore, Showdown, Discovery, or Red Lodge. Paradise Valley
Cross over the Bozeman pass just 30 miles to the beautiful Paradise Valley - perfect stop on your way to Yellowstone. Check out Livingston or see a show at the Old Saloon or Pine Creek Lodge.

Fly Fishing
The Gallatin River offers some of the best fly-fishing in the Valley. A number of outfitters can set you up or take you out, Please note you require a permit from MT Fish & Wildlife. Outfitters: Montana Trout on the Fly, Montana Angling Co, Montana Angler, Gallatin River Fly Fishing.

Float the Madison
The Madison River in Montana is a popular destination for floating, tubing, and standup paddle boarding. The river is known for its trout fishing and is considered one of the most famous fly fishing rivers in the United States. The Madison River is also known as "The 50 Mile Riffle" and has many sections that are good for wading.
